Emotional Vampire

you stand too close to talk to me
edge into my space

with sharp shoulders,
a hollow face, bony fingers
curled like claws

more than once I've imagined you
jump onto him, both legs wrapped
around his soft waist,
lips pressed to his neck
to cast a spell - like love whispered,
your words so misunderstood

his large hands and slow smile
were never ready

there's no balance
in the differences between,
just his heart's quick beat
like a rabbit in the corner

this has nothing to do with me,
but I understand his feelings

I know you like to kill things,
take souls to fill the void
that grows ever deeper
as you waste before my eyes

I see him and I empathize,
envisioning a sacred space around me
when you stand too close to talk
